Getting medical support

In your struggle against abuse, it is vital that you take care of your health. Access treatment for injuries that you might sustain because of the violence, and other health problems. Several women suffer from chronic illnesses as a result of the violence that they face. Often, they are not able to take their medications because of the stress that they are under or because of control by the abuser. It is hence important that you are in control of your health.

Whenever you visit the doctor for getting treatment for an injury caused by violence, ensure that the history of the assault is recorded in the hospital papers and that you are given a copy of these papers. Recording of history of violence and the nature of injuries sustained can serve as an important document in a court of law, should you choose to pursue a legal course of action in the future.
