Sexaul Assault Forensic Evidence Kit

One of the crucial roles that medical professionals are entrusted with in cases of sexual assault, is that of documentation and collection of evidence. In such instances, forensic evidence must be collected as per hospital protocol, the history of assault must be recorded and a careful examination of the survivor must be carried out. All these documents help in building the womans case and must necessarily be recorded. Not doing so can be viewed by the court of law.

A kit such as the Sexual Assault Forensic Evidence (SAFE) kit may be used for this purpose. The kit contains a proforma for recording history, examination findings and all equipment required to collect evidence in cases of sexual assault. It also contains a manual that provides step-by-step instructions for using the kit.
